Tonight I was told that I am expected to do more for my child than her father is because I'm the mother of the child.

It’s equal. My husband helps out with everything equally. He never does more and I never do more. We are a team and teamwork makes the dream work.

I think both parents share responsibility equally but it will likely feel unbalanced at times. I have a three week old son and since we’re breastfeeding and I’m on maternity leave I do more for him right now. When my maternity leave is up my husband will leave his job and stay home with the baby so at that point he will be doing more for our son 🤷🏻‍♀️ I think at any given time it may feel like one of us is doing more but it should balance out over time.

The only way I'd see it being a majority of the mother is being a sahm. Of course, we both take care of our baby and the house. But since my husband works, I count s majority of taking care of the house and baby as my "job"
