Small painful ovarian cyst?

Wondering if anyone out there has had a small ovarian cyst cause them pain? I have been having a sharp pain on my right side for weeks now and my ultrasound revealed a small 1.4cm cyst on my right ovary. The doctor told me that should not be causing pain and just sent me on my way with no indication of what can be causing my pain. 
I’m wondering if it’s just a coincidence that I’m having pain and there’s a cyst or if the cyst can actually be painful?

Yes! Mine were bilateral, on both ovaries, and were in that size range. They also caused me to miss three cycles, have constant pain, symptoms of early pregnancy and positive pregnancy tests on multiple brands. It’s not in your head and is plausible given what and where the cysts are.

I had a 4 cm cyst on my ovary and my God, the worst pain I've ever felt! Doctors didn't know what was causing it for a week!

I have a cyst atm its 5.4cm and causing me loads of pain on and off and it even presses on my bladder and causes UTIs sometimes too. My cyst is solid and I’ll be having an op to remove it. Most cysts go on their own, mine wont though.

I have plenty of cysts. I'm constantly crampy. It's a constant dull ache. The doctor I saw last year also told me they shouldn't be interfering with anything but I beg to differ.
