I live in the UK, had a very straight forward birth and was discharged 6 hours after with my first. Hoping to be out within 3 hours with my 2nd all being well. The midwife comes to your house the next day to check you both though and then you both have a check up every few days for 10-14 days. Very different for a complicated birth though (induction/ epidural/ instrumental/ bleeding/ c-section etc). You’re often in for a few days.

With my first we were in the hospital for 2 days. With my second it was only 24 hours. Delivered at different hospitals, the first preferred we stayed longer and the second wanted the room ASAP.

With my oldest they forced me to stay for 5 days, because i was young, single, and they wanted to wait for drug tests to be finished so they could try to take my daughter away. Fyi i didn't do any of that so they had to let me and my daughter leave after that. With my second they shooed me out in under 24 hours

3 days for a c section. Got there at 7pm on Tuesday, had a c section at 2am on Wednesday, and went home 12pm on Friday.

Mine was due to the date/time I gave birth. My hospital states 24 hour stay for noncomplicated induction birth. So gave birth 9:42pm on a Sunday night....had to stay until at least 9:42 on Monday night but can’t discharge that late so I had to stay until Tuesday morning. I arrived to be induced Saturday night.

We had a “home birth” (used the birth house that our midwives offer which is just a house that they rent). We were home 3 hours after our daughter was born!

Different with each.  About 10 hours after my first.  3 days after my second.  And 2 days after my third.  They actually wanted to discharge me about 12 hours after his birth but I said I wasn’t comfortable leaving yet..mostly I wanted to be close by because he was in the nicu 😂

We were released about 40 hours after. Our hospital’s policy is to observe the baby for at least 36 hours, but that would have been 6 am for us, so it was about 10 am before all the paper work, etc was in place to let us go.
