Kathryn June
My baby girl was born on Saturday, September 14 at 4:15pm. 7 pounds 4 ounces and 19.5 inches long.
I was 38 weeks and 2 days along.
My water broke (no contractions) at 2:45pm on Friday, September 13. Went to the hospital and was admitted at 4pm. Only 1.5cm dilated.
6pm: Since labor wasn’t progressing fast enough (2.5cm dilated), they started me on Pitocin.
10pm: The contractions were more than I could handle (the Pitocin was working TOO well), I decided to get an epidural. It worked for the first hour, but after that, only my right side stayed numb and my left side I could feel EVERYTHING! The nurses tried rotating me to different laying positions (somewhat helped, but still in pain).
1:45am: 5cm dilated
2:30am: diagnosed with sepsis and staph infection. Started antibiotics. Baby is not in distress.
6am: 9cm dilated. At this point I was telling the nurses that I wanted her out of me 😩😂
12pm: 10cm dilated, started pushing
3pm: after pushing for 3 hours an no progress, emergency caesarean was scheduled
4pm: entered the OR. Since my epidural was partially working, I was able to feel some of the cutting 😳
4:15pm: Kathryn June was born. After she was born, the anesthesiologist was able to give me more powerful pain medication. What I remember is me screaming and passing out and waking up screaming again...
It was a long 26 hours, but worth it.
