Strange deep pain

Had sex day before my period was due. It hurt and felt like he was hitting something that caused pain. Yesterday my period started and I kept having pain when I sit a certain way, or cough. I also am having a hard time using a tampon as it feels like it keeps hitting that same painful spot and they hurt. I’ve used tampons since I was 17 now 32 so it’s not a matter of using them wrong or not fully inserting them. Any one experience this before?
