Do you follow all the safe sleep recommendations?

Polls are anonymous and I was curious! I see a lot of people bed sharing under the same blanket or putting things in baby's crib, etc. so I was curious to see how many people actually know and follow the guidelines! I know we all know / want what's best for our babies. I let my little guy nap wherever (with a blanket) but am usually in and out of the room. Night time I'm pretty strict though!

I feel each mom has something they’re neurotic about. Safe sleep is mine. I’m absolutely crazy (to an annoying level) about following the Safe sleep guidelines.  I’ve been very fortunate that my girls will go to sleep in their own space (crib/bassinet) relatively easily. I have friends and a sister that have done co sleeping. It works for them and they get better sleep. I just am not able to get better sleep if they’re in my bed.... so really defeats the purpose.

I will never understand why room sharing can reduce SIDS risk...

Always, every single time. He is always placed on his back, in the beginning it was in his bassinet in our room and at two weeks we moved him to his crib. He sleeps in there for every nap and at night with nothing but a fitted sheet. SIDS or some freak accident is my worst nightmare so I feel better doing everything I possibly can to prevent that

Being a first time mom, I was spa adamant about safe sleep from day one. I knew the saying “Back is best” and babies shouldn’t have loose covers around them when they sleep. Let me just tell you though... that went out the window. 
After not sleeping the first month of my daughters life, I had to do something different. She would be swaddled in her bassinet and at 1 week old was rolling all over. Not safe!! So I ended up spending the first month and a half of her life sleeping on the couch with her sleeping in a boppy lounger pillow. She liked it and I got sleep. 🤷🏼‍♀️
She has reflux and so being elevated and upright is a must for her. So now she sleeps in a sleeper thats angled 30 degrees. She sleeps with a blanket folded over her bottom half and lightly swaddled under that. I tried to transition her to a normal bassinet and she screamed and we got no sleep. So we’re not changing anything yet.

I’m still a firm believer in safe sleep and I will do that when she starts sleeping in her crib. But right now, we have to do what’s best for all 3 of us and that’s getting sleep so we don’t lose our minds. My daughter is a difficult baby and so we do what we have to!

Pretty much, yes. SIDS or asphyxiation is one of my fears when it comes to him! He takes all of his naps and goes to bed in his crib. He was swaddled until he learned to roll both ways and then we ditched it cold turkey for a sleep sack. He sleeps in his side or on his belly but puts himself that way and can control his head movements and can roll both ways like I said. The only thing we did do that was a no no was when he was swaddled we tightly folded up to towels and put them at the end of his crib. He loved to kick kick kick and would kick himself out of his swaddle, not to escape he liked being swaddled, he was just a kicker. We didn’t want him just kicking his little feet on the crib boards either. So the towels would stifle the blow and keep him in his swaddle.

We co sleep safely. I started when she was a week old bc I was getting no sleep, and now we’re stuck lol

I was really adamant about following the guidelines, but for all of our sanity... that went out the window. I fall asleep nursing her every night. And she’s a belly sleeper now with a blanket that she sleeps on top of (she’s obsessed with this blanket). She can roll, push up, and move her head from side to side. And I waited until those milestones before I allowed it. I keep a video monitor on her each time but at this point we are desperate for sleep and she is happy and comfortable. 
We all have something we are neurotic about as another commenter said. Mine is car seat safety and waiting for solids until recommenced guidelines.

I was pretty anal about it until she became a wiggle worm and would wake up with her face smashed up against the side of her bassinet. Dr recommended not swaddling and just putting a lightweight blanket on her. So I've been putting her in warm onesies and a muslin blanket.  But I am going to get a sleep sack type thing now that its getting cooler here

Thanks so much for your honesty, ladies! I think a few commenters have hit the nail on the head: as moms, we all have a few things we're super gung-ho about (mine are no TV and breastfeeding, sorry 😔) and other things where we are a bit less strict and do what works for our families (we don't have a car so whenever we do travel we just use the seatbelt to secure the little one and I'm still not 100% sure the seat is at the right angle / his straps are tight enough, etc.). It's not easy to stay quiet when someone hits a nerve with "your" topic but I'm going to doy best from here on out.
