Is it okay to skip one nursing session at night?

Question

So I nursed my baby around 7:30 then I plan on giving my boyfriend a bottle of breast milk to feed our son around 9 so I can get some rest. Is it okay for me to skip that nursing session or do I HAVE to pump? I’ve been nursing him on demand for about 3 weeks now.

Do t know if it is right but my little man has been sleeping through the night for the last few days and I have not been waking up to pump. I just make sure in the mornings I do pump sessions every two hours after that.

Rule of thumb to protect supply is you pump in place of feeding... granted 1 night won’t be an issue but if hubby is giving bottle every night you’ll want to fit in a pump somewhere. It doesn’t mean you have to pump at the exact time bottle is given. You can feed, pump, go to bed & not wake for next feeding. Or feed, go to bed, skip next feeding, then wake up at following feeding, feed, then pump. Or just fit a pump in your day somewhere.

I don’t think it will be an issue but I skipped one pumping session and when I woke up I was super engorged and it was painful

My LO has been doing 5-6 hour stretches at night and I don’t pump. I just let her eat her fill and then pump when we get up for the day and freeze it for my going back to work stash. I think it only affects your supply if you skip several feedings.

I would probably end up pumping anyway because I could never sleep through that pain 😬

My little one is 2 and a half weeks old, if he sleeps through a feed or my partner gives him a bottle - I keep milk storage bottles and bags next to my bed so that if I wake up uncomfortable and engourged - I hand express. I’ll have my partner grab my hakaa if I need it.
