Should I name my son after his dad?

This will be our first child together and we are hoping for a boy. He has three girls already with other women so if we have a boy it will be his only son so I’m wondering ????? Help please

We had this discussion when our son was born in March, we decided against it because of some issues his dad (my husband as well) had with his name being too common. But I think if you both agree to it, it’s a nice gesture.

No!! It makes things messy. Medical records, banking records, debts/collections, mail, etc will constantly be mixed up. What about using his name as the middle name?

My husband is a JR and we had a boy in Nov who is now the third! We call him by his middle name which also takes after his great grandpa. They’re all amazing men and I like the name and I think our son will appreciate the bond and history while also having his own identity in the preferred name/nickname. Paperwork is not an issue because this is now so common. His first day of school each year he’ll have to correct his teachers but he’ll be fine. It’s up to you! Names are special no matter what 💕

It's a personal preference. My husband is a junior and is not super fond of his name. His dad really wanted a third but we decided to give our son his own name.

I would say yes. We just had  the same discussion. My Hunny is junior already and if we have boy he wants him to be the third.

I told my husband before we were married that I would not name any son after him. I just don’t like the tradition. But that is my preference. You two do what you like. Congrats.
