High BP before pregnancy?

Has anyone here ever had high BP before or at the time of conceiving?? I’ve always been borderline high but never diagnosed but now that I’m 5 weeks and having insomnia(not from pregnancy) I knew my BP was out of control from not sleeping/anxiety so I got it checked today and they started me on a BP med and I’m freaking out!! I know it runs in my family but I feel like its just going to cause many pregnancy issues. Has anyone had a safe pregnancy on bp meds?!?!?

I had high BP before I was pregnant and all while TTC. I have been on meds probably for about 7 years (I’m 31, mine is all genetic) , I’m in Labetol now and have been taking it probably since last year, as they discontinued the other pregnancy safe one, and it’s fine. Honestly my BP has gone down since getting pregnant (that is a normal thing BTW) . I know a few people who took Labetol throughout there pregnancy and after and everything was fine. I’m only 18.5 weeks right now so I’m not sure if anything will happen towards the end of my pregnancy but so far I have been monitoring and my BP is great. I’m not lying when I say mine got better with pregnancy. Don’t stress, plenty of women have been on BP meds all throughout pregnancy and everything was fine.

Thanks so much! I’ve been reading all the bad things that can happen if you were to get preeclampsia along with chronic high bp and I’m making myself not even want to be pregnant anymore!!
