HSG test or no??

Question

Did anyone’s doctor recommend having an HSG test after an ectopic pregnancy? I had surgery to remove my Fallopian tube at 7 weeks due to an ectopic in March. My doctor mentioned the test as a possibility but stated that it was not normal protocol after an ectopic. I’m struggling with the decision of having the test done or not. I’ve heard it’s painful and my insurance my not pay for it since it would be considered elective. Any advice???

I just had mine done this last month after an losing my right tube in 2017 of March due to an ectopic. I got it done bc I’m trying to conceive and I wanted to make sure that my other tube wasn’t blocked. Thank goodness it wasn’t. However—the procedure was quick but super painful afterwards- I had extreme period like cramps for 3 hours

My Dr. said that she only recommends the procedure if someone has had more than one ectopic or a history of ectopic risk factors.

I had one done four months after my ectopic. They “saved” my tube but it ended up being scarred closed after surgery so I was glad I did it. My other tube was looking good though. I recommend it just for peace of mind.

I also had done last month just to make sure if its open .. i will recommend , dr will give you some pain killers before the test, during test keep yourself calm and breath .. its super easy and smooth.. dont panic

I got one a few months after I lost a tube from an ectopic to make sure the other tube was good. I recommend it so that you know what’s going on with your body. It was about 10 seconds of excruciating pain, but you can do anything for 10 seconds right?! It’s over as soon as you think you can’t bare it any longer! I had a friend get the test done and felt nothing, so I guess everyone is different!
