Anyone 35+ TTC, are you scared for increased risk for genetic abnormalities?

Hi! I am 35 and currently TTC for my third. We haven’t had luck at all, but after reading that women who are 35 have such an increased chance of a baby with genetic abnormalities, I am now about to just give up and be happy with the two I have. Am I over reacting? Idk....🤷🏻‍♀️

Answer

The vast majority of babies born to women over 35 are totally healthy. I wouldn’t let this concern alone stop you. If you are hesitant to have a baby for other reasons then this could just be one more argument against going it, though. I’m 40 and 32 weeks pregnant with my first and she is perfectly healthy - I had detailed genetic analysis done.

I'm 36, DH is 39, and yes, the thought has crossed my mind many many many times. We are going into month 7 of TTC and my cycles are all over the place, I never know from month to month when or if I am going to ovulate, and when I do actually ovulate there isnt a DTD opportunity, which makes me sometimes question if this is a sign that we shouldn't be having a baby this late in life. I have 2 from a previous marriage that we had in our early 20's so the age difference is already kinda ridiculous, but my husband and I would like one together but it does scare me.

I’m not 35 yet but I know the feeling. I had my first at 19 and 13 years later just had my 2nd. I want one more  but don’t want to have another too soon or too late due to age. I was even worried about being 32 having another.
