Depends if they need growth intervention treatment. A lot of times they don’t get them til about 12, but at 8&9 the dr can help development of the jaws and guide misaligned teeth so there’s less to do later. Like pull permanent teeth or do surgery.

I got mine at 12 I think, they waited for my teeth to mature a bit more it’s best to go to a dentist and ortho, by 9 I was barely getting my period lol

That's a question for the orthodontist. Some kids need spacers and that has to be started early. My daughter didnt get them til 13.

From my experience with people around my town, you should wait. There are three different orthodontists that everyone goes to, mine is always excellent, the other was usually good, and the thrid and seemed like the most common I wouldn't trust. He put kids in braces that young whether they had all their adult tetth or not and most have had braces twice because they were not ready.

The child should be around 11/12 years old. Most 9 year olds still have some of their primary teeth. It all depends on the child, but my boss (a dentist) always recommends to wait until all primary teeth are out. Waiting until 11/12 also gives the jaw more time to develop.

Ugh, I meant to click "no". I started braces when I was 7 and had another set when I was 9. I was extremely crowded and had to have a couple different appliances as well. Depending on the issue, the earlier, the better. The jaw eventually isn't as pliable and making changes can be a tad more painful and challenging. Also, eventually when the wisdom teeth form, it can cause some crowding. So continuing wear of the retainer is important and most likely having to have the wisdom teeth extracted.

There’s phase one and phase two. Phase one is recommended when there isn’t sufficient space for the adult teeth to grow in. Phase one is meant to make phase two a much easier and quicker process than if you were to do it all at once. Worked in orthodontics for 5 years.

Have they lost all their teeth? are they responsible enough to keep care of them? If yes then go for it!
If no then youre wasting youre money and just wait another year or two.

That's when I started. Or maybe 8. My baby teeth fell out by then (at least the vast majority) so there was no reason to wait.
