Is this normal?

I just started my period, today was the 3rd day. I used a thin pad the first day and everything was normal. Yesterday I decided to try out a diva cup and since then, I’ve noticed my blood being very stringy. Like a string of stretchy blood hangs out of me after I remove the cup to empty it and the blood in the cup is also of that consistency. Is this just blood clotting? Is it normal?

It’s not a string of blood, it’s likely blood mixed with vaginal fluid. When you use a pad or tampon on your period, any clear discharge you may have usually absorbs into those products. With a cup, there’s nothing to absorb the fluids, so they collect inside you/in your cup. Often when I remove my cup there’s a long string of super stringy, stretchy fluid that’s clearish-red trailing out of me. That’s all it is. It’s actually totally normal! I love using a cup for that reason, because it means my body’s ph balance isn’t being affected by having something inside me absorbing all those lubrications my body naturally makes.

It’s normal . It’s just the lining of your vagina and fluid coming out in a different way . It’s not being absorbed into anything .
