Question for bird owners ??

For many years I’ve wanted a bird specifically a parakeet , since all the research I have done states they are the best beginner bird. Recently I took a trip to my local pet shop it just recently opened and they mainly focus on birds. I was looking at the parakeets and talking to the store employee and he suggested that I get 2 love birds instead of 1 or 2 parakeets . He told me they are a better beginner bird and I would be much happier with me than if I got a parakeet. I haven’t done any research on love birds so I didn’t wanna make a spontaneous buy and just go off what the guy said I needed cause I don’t know if he was just trying to make a better sale or what. Do any of y’all own or have owned love birds and or parakeets I’m working on doing so research but I want some personal opinions on if love birds would really be the better choice or not ? Any advice appreciated 💗 and if you have some favorite sites for bird stuff and info please attach links cause I’m just going off of google right now 👍

I have a conure. Please try to rescue first before a pet store Bc they breed the hell out of them and don’t care about them. Love birds are more expensive which is probably why he told you to get them. Parakeets are very good for your first bird. Also think about if your ready to have a bird. Birds wings do not need to be clipped! It ruins there muscles and causes off balances. Look that up too. So your gonna have to have your home ready and bird safe. Like no cooking when the bird is out and no doors open. No fans on, etc. you can ask me anything else if you want! I know a lot about them.

My first two birds were love birds. Really lovely birds and great beginner birds. I got mine when I was 13. 
Birds need to be out their cages for a minimum of two hours a day, although I typically keep my African Greys out for 5+ hours a day. Make sure they have a big enough cage. 
When you leave them, make sure you leave them in their cages and I always leave the TV or radio on for them. Some birds like their cages near a window, others don't.
Never put a bird's cage in the kitchen- the funds from cooking and appliances can kill them. Also when you have birds remember their little lungs are so delicate so you need to use little air fresheners and infusers (preferably none at all but sometimes it is necessary). No candles.
Birds like routine so make sure you put them to bed and wake them up at more or less the same time. They also need a full night's sleep so put them somewhere where it will be dark and quiet.
Some people like to cover their bird cages, others don't. We always do, but in summer we use a light sheet and in winter we use heavier blankets because we don't have indoor heating.
Also get your bird into good eating habits. Mostly vegetables, then fruit and pellets/ seeds.
Make sure you've read up on foods that can kill your birdie. NO avocado, NO chocolate, NO coffee or alcohol (a tiny bit of tea here and there is fine, especially if it's chamomile).
Love birds are very smart (all birds are really) so make sure you keep them well stimulated. They love playing and destroying things. Toilet paper tubes and toothpaste boxes are a favourite with mine (and luckily always in supply).
