Fever?

Question

I’m a NICU mommy, fevers are a death sentence to my heart as I cannot see him until it’s gone. 
I went to the doctor and no UTI and no flu but have the chills and running a fever. 
Can being post partum cause this? (4 days pp) 
Is it safe to see my son?
No runny nose, ears aren’t plugged
I have been doing a lot for being PP so maybe I over worked my body?

Id be fearful to go and see him. You are running a fever for a reason. A short time now may mean longer with him later. I hope whatever you decide works out and you and baby do well.

Fever would only be present if you’re body was trying to fight an infection. You may have been more susceptible to the infection because of being pp and run down, not those things themselves would cause a fever.

I’m a NICU mom x3 and I wouldn’t recommend going to the NICU with a fever. It’s so hard not seeing your baby but a fever for a newborn can be extremely dangerous. I hope you feel better soon!

Did you also let your OB know about this? Retained placenta can cause fevers as well. Either way, I wouldn’t take the chance and see your LO even though I know how hard that will be for you. I hope you feel better soon!

Not a NICU mom but I developed a fever about 5 hours pp and was not allowed to see my healthy, full term new born for 48 hours because the Drs said a fever was too risky for my newborn. Please go to l&d and have them check you out for any infections your body might be fighting. Good luck momma!

Do not go see your son. Not only is it your son but everyone else’s baby. When my son was in the NICU and I was in the hospital I went crazy. So I get it, but think really hard about your child’s life and the others ❤️

Depending on hospital nope fever are no go in nicu that can be very dangerous for those babies espically your son
