HALLELUJAH !!!! Everything happens for a reason

Natasha

it’s FINALLY my turn!

What an emotional rollercoaster. On Sunday just gone at 41+1 I had my first contraction! They were irregular and although painful we’re totally bearable! So we went home and carried one other our lives, I woke up the next morning in a puddle so went into the birthing centre to get tested, it was negative for amniotic fluid but she gave me a sweep and I found out I was 3cm dilated and since my last sweep my cervix had become soft and stretchy (WOO)

So we go home. Contractions start picking up! That evening at 10pm I call the birth centre because my contractions were now averaging 5 minutes apart, for 60 seconds for a whole hour .. they were intense and strong! They got me into the birthing pool and I used that and paracetamol as pain relief .. 3am rolls around and my waters still hadn’t gone and all membranes were intact. So home we go again..

Once there I couldn’t sleep these contractions were absolute agony. I left my partner to sleep and get some rest and sat downstairs suffering alone until around 11am when I Decided I seriously couldn’t do it anymore.

Back to the birthing centre!! THIS TIME, they offered me pethidine and another sweep, I was still only dilated to 3cm and just as they were about to send me home the midwife suggested just booking me in and seeing how we got on.

By 9pm I was on my 2nd round of pethidine and was in the birthing pool managing (not that well)in gas and air.

The midwife was amazing, she spoke to the doctor explaining my situation they had agreed to break my waters instead of I. Two days time when I was booked in for an induction.

They broke my waters and contractions got REAL after 2 hours I was reassessed and had dilated to 4cm - this made me mentalIy lose it. I got really upset and said I wanted an epidural.

From there I was Moved to L+D. The first cannula failed, and the first epidural failed! But my god when that second one took effect .... best feeling ever! It felt so good! I then got told to sleep and we’d keep checking until I got to 10cm...

I didn’t feel a single contraction!! Fast forward to this morning after 4 and a half hours at 08.30 I get reassessed. 5cm dilated like are you KIDDING ME?!?!?!

It was then the doctors came swarming in. LO’s HR was dropping badly with each contraction and they wanted him out NOW. I was prepped and within 15 minutes was in surgery for my emergency section.

The moment you feel them pull out that little one and they don’t cry is easily the worst moment of your life. After 6 minutes they got him screaming. It just turned out he was a little shocked from his rapid entrance to the world.

I started getting the shakes and again this is when the team of docs come rushing in, I was haemorrhaging pretty badly and ended up losing 1800mls of blood.

I am currently sat nursing my gorgeous son, Charlie Hayden Day, 8lb 5oz born today on the 9/10/19 at 09.13 whilst hooked up to a blood transfusion

Is he worth it? Absolutely!
