Thoughts on piercing baby’s ears?

I know this is s somewhat sensitive topic for some but how you you ladies feel about a baby, 4 months old getting her ears pierced. I am up on the air about it. I know some women believe you should wait until the child can make their own choice. And some say they like to have it done young so they don’t remember the pain, etc. I didn’t get mine pierced until after the age of 16. Always asked my mother why she never had it done when I was young. What are your opinions and experiences. Be nice everyone!!

I personally won’t do it until my baby is old enough to care for the piercing on her own and able to keep her hands off of them cause that’s the most important part of a piercing is keeping it from getting infected and let’s face it baby’s and children have no self control and will touch them or rip them out you just have to think if it’s worth the risk of infection and the risk of her ripping them and the possible scaring from the piercing I mean to each their own but to me the risk of infection and possibility of them getting ripped isn’t worth it even if they are cute 🤷🏼‍♀️

I would never choose to inflict unnecessary pain on my daughter. This is such an easy decision for me.

I have no issue with children getting their ears pierced young, but have decided to hold off for different personal reasons with my daughter. When I was 8 my mom let me get my ears pierced for my birthday and she made it such a special day. We got my ears pierced, shopped for me, and went to lunch; I just remember feeling so special that day I’ve never forgotten it. It was the first time I felt like my mom was also my friend and is a day I’ve always cherished. I hope by waiting and doing something similar with my daughter when she is 7 or 8 I can give her that same special feeling. That’s really my only reason for holding off.

Ear piercings don't hurt that much, so jot wanting them to remember the pain is silly. They will have scraped knees that hurt more than that. I want it to be my child's choice. She may not want or like pierced ears.

I did both my girls at 4 months. They cried for a split second and was fine. I don’t regret it, and if they get older and don’t like it then they can take it out. I had mine done at that age & I was always thankful my mom did it for me.

I wouldn’t do it to my kids. I personally hated having pierced ears and I still hate the little scars it left behind. My youngest sister also dislikes pierced ears. So I’d wait until my kids could make the choice for themselves. My sister also nannies a wild kid who took her earrings out when she was supposed to be napping, put one in her mouth, and she aspirated it. They had to rush her to the hospital to remove it from her lung.

I didn’t get mine pierced until I was old enough to want it done myself, and I’ll be doing the same with my daughter. I won’t get them done until/unless she’s old enough to tell me she wants them and can help take care of cleaning them.

I would only ever have it done professionally and a professional probably wouldn’t pierce a baby. But even if they would I still think it’s better for an older child who can make the choice and actually remember the experience. 
Proper piercing needles are much sharper than the studs used in piercing guns and cause less damage to the ear tissue - which means it’s less painful, if painful at all. Piercing guns for human aesthetic are also designed from the guns used to tag cattle and the idea of my child being pierced with essentially a cattle tagging tool is unsettling. 
Having many piercings myself it’s a moment where one can feel joy, pride in overcoming fear or in just yourself for being you. As a child it can make you feel “bigger”, more confident and ready to take on the world. It’s a simple thing that can make us feel big emotions, things that we can’t conceive to feel as babies. 
Some people say “it’s just an ear piercing” to defend piercing a babies ear. That it’s a little thing is why I would never judge someone for doing it, but that very same reason is why I think it’s a good choice to wait and let them make the choice and have the experience in a memorable way.

Personally I wouldn’t do it. I thank my mom for not doing it to me when I was a baby. Got mine pierced when I was around 11 years old and I’m very happy about the memory. My mom brought me and made me choose a nice pair of earring to wear once the wounds healed properly. Also I don’t like the idea of a baby with earrings. Might sound stupid but what if one of the earrings comes off? Babies are unpredictable they put everything in their mouth. That being said, this is just my opinion you gotta do what makes you comfortable
