Appointments at 2 days old???!

I went to a pediatrician and she said it’s standard procedure to be seen 2 days after being dispatched from the hospital in case the baby has jaundice or isn’t gaining weight? Is this necessary?

I want to stay home with my baby and relax after the hospital. Not go out again and expose my baby to potential germs at my pediatrician’s office. Not to mention I’m probably going to be tired?
