Is it appropriate to go ring shopping with a man who is legally separated and working towards his divorce???

He's been separated for almost 3 years. But I guess legally speaking he is still married. We have been together for a year and a half. And going strong. His divorce is almost finalized. But not yet. And he still wants me to go ring shopping with him and get ideas because he's said one day he hopes to marry me. Thoughts?

I don’t think the ring shopping is the questionable part. It’s the dating in the first place. But you’re in this deep so it doesn’t matter at this point.

I'd rather see commitment in the form of a finalized divorce from his wife than a ring. I think it's very inappropriate to have an engagement or anything related to an engagement  (like a ring) while one (or both!) partner is still legally married. No class at all.

Some people completely disconnect from their marriage and just takes a long time to get around to the divorce 🙄 so dating someone who is separated isn't that bad. my brother is one of these people. He's in a very committed relationship that he has been in for a while now and JUST FINALLY got completely divorced. I say if you're thinking about marriage then why not ring shop? Obviously you can't tie the knot until the divorce is totally finalized.

I wouldn’t until the divorce is finalized just so you both don’t get your hearts broken. Divorces can take time (as you see) and can be messy. Just my personal opinion. I was in a similar situation as you and am now happily married! Patience was key!

As a woman who is separated and waiting for the final decree, I wouldn’t give a 💩 if my ex went ring shopping with his gf. 
When we met to sign the paperwork, I noticed that he’s already wearing a wedding ring and it’s definitely not the one he had when we were together. But again, idc not my business. I acted like I didn’t even notice it.  He’s no longer my problem.

Put it this way would you be ok with it if that was your husband.? How do you actually know he’s filing for a divorce he might just be stringing you along ? you don’t deal with a man unless he is single and the fact that you even asked it just says a lot about you as a woman and your standards I could never do to another woman what I’ve had done to me or cause another person a pain so great. Reevaluate your self worth the way you get him is the way you will lose him

He’s been separated for 3 years, and you’ve been together 1.5 years. I think it’s fine, if you feel safe and happy with him.
