Choosing a last name

So my boyfriend and I have been together for almost a year but we are expecting. I’m 16 weeks today. We are excited. We live together, but I’m having an issue with having the baby take his last name or mine. I know traditionally everyone chooses the man’s whether they are married or not. Part of me what’s to keep that honor. On the other hand. My last name dies out with me. Two my boyfriend has been married once before and has a bad habit of throwing in my face that he’s not getting married again or the well we’re not married card. Part of me is kind of bitter with the fact that I’m doing all the work here and why would I want to be the one left out who doesn’t have the same last name as my child. I’m wondering how much heat I will catch from everyone and his family if I choose to go with my last name. It can always be changed later.
