Can I take both?

So I just left my doctors office and she is having me take Metformin extended release due to my intolerance for the regular Metformin. I’ve told her that I was taking an Inositol supplement at 2000 mg per day but she told me the last time I was there that she didn’t know anything about the supplement so it was no surprise that she shrugged it off. I wanted to know if anyone takes both Metformin extended release and Myo/D-Chiro Inositol and if I should lower my Inositol intake since I’ll now be taking 1000 mg of Metformin too.
