How long should I wait?

I was supposed to start my period today but haven’t seen any blood or signs of period coming anytime soon. I have been having hot flashes but that’s it. I’m 5 months postpartum, should I go ahead and take a pregnancy test or should I wait a few more days??

I’d take a pregnancy test today just to ease my mind a little and then retest in a couple days to settle it
