A good 70% of all birth plans go out the window when even the smallest thing goes wrong.
Make a plan but have a back up less strict plan when and if something interferes with your original plan.
I literally don’t know anyone that has made a plan and was able to follow it because of life interference with it. Being from c section or baby being stuck, or being in labor for 3 days and having to use pitocen to kick in the contractions better from wanting a natural birth but realizing “ no f way, give me epidural ..NOW” and sooo so many things can go wrong. Baby’s heartbeat could get too stressed and drop and have the need of c section. If this happens, many things will be useless off your birth plan. C sections have strict rules and often times completely throw out any and all birth plans the mom has made ever so carefully.
Make the plan, but have a less strict back up just in case

I had a birth plan I was completely passionate about and nothing went my way. The health of my son was more important. Just know that anything can happen at any time and as long as baby is good that’s all that matters. During labor you don’t want to be thinking/stressing about the birth plan the whole time. Have a plan and tell the nurses what you would like, but if the doctor recommends something still listen them and why they recommend it. It doesn’t necessarily have to be their way either though. Just keep the options in mind.

There’s no point making it strict because anything could happen which would make a birth plan fly out the window. I am making a birth plan that I want to follow but if something happens then goodbye to that birth plan

So no, will not make any strict plan.

I have “birth preferences” like only do this if absolutely medically necessary. Please review risks and benefits before doing that. If we have a c section, we still want this. That type of stuff. I know that it’s not likely that everything would go according to “plan” but I would at least like it outlined how I would prefer them to go.

I created a birth plan with both of my kids. I didn’t expect it to be strictly followed because that’s impossible lol but it’s helpful to have some kind of rough idea of what I want and don’t want duding labor and delivery. Ironically, both of my labors were exact to my birth plans - by luck lol.

My doctor said the best birth plan is a flexible birth plan. It's TOTALLY okay to have a plan, but you'd better be okay with things not going according to your plan or you'll be highly disappointed, either in the events or in yourself.
