Progesterone and Miscarriage?

If you were prescribed progesterone precautionary to prevent miscarriage would it delay the miscarriage from happening until you stopped taking the progesterone? In other words would the bleeding of the miscarriage be delayed because you were still taking the progesterone? Experiences?

I went in for an early ultrasound and they only saw a sac at 5.5wks, I’ve had a blighted ovum before I just don’t want false hope, and want to be prepared.
