My MIL thinks we are crazy. We love the name despite not being Latinos. We also love the nickname Santi.

The only thing to consider here is potential screening/profiling from just looking at the name. I married a Mexican man and took his name, and now offices and whatnot write my white ass up as "Hispanic" all the time before actually seeing me. It shouldn't happen but it's the world we live in.

It might be a little confusing to him or others but I say go for it. I’m planning on giving my future children Hawaiian names and I’m Dominican 🤷🏻‍♀️ it’s a cute name and you love it so why not.

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with this. Yes most people will associate it with being Latino but keep in mind that Santiago is a European name from Spain. The Spanish brought over their language and reused city names when they colonized the new world so technically it’s European. I think it’s a nice name. I’ve actually always liked the name Santino (Italian)

I like the name Santiago (actually I live in Santiago, Chile 😀) but keep in mind that if you’re looking for something uncommon this name is VERY popular in the Latin American community right now.

I’m Colombian myself and I have Aussie/English names for my 2 kids that are full Colombian also, Kayla and Kyle. My next baby who will be born in 10 weeks or less is Colombian/pacific islander will have dads traditional naming and last name but I’ll have Rodriguez as his middle name as it is my last name, so there’s still something of me in him :) but I think now days everyone can name their child whatever they want from whatever nationality:) you do what you want babe and pick whatever name you like :)
