I got the Skyla IUD june 6th 2019. I didn’t start my period until about two or three weeks after the insertion. My periods have been regular and always come on time (give or take a few days) but they’re 9-13 days long. Originally they were always five but I was on the pill. The cramps can hurt a lot and the periods aren’t getting any shorter.

Irregular periods are the most common side effect of the hormonal iuds. Irregular periods include heavier bleeding, longer bleeding, spotting, periods closer together or farther apart. You may experience any of these at anytime during the use of the iud but it usually occurs the first 3 to 6 months while your body adjust. Your periods will likely becime lighter in flow but irregular in length or when you get them especially on the lower dosage ones like kyleena or skyla. It may even out for you after the 6 month mark.

Yeah it was like that at first then my period completely stopped for a year and just recently i started to spot once a month for about 2-5 days so it really just depends on ur body everyone is different
