Hey everyone, my boyfriend and I are in college and we’re both going to be teachers! Hopefully in the same county once we graduate, or at least neighboring counties.

Anyways, we get A LOT of crap about it. I’ve had “friends” tell me that I should dump him because we won’t be making enough money and that if you want to teach, you should marry someone who can “support you”.

Now, neither of us live extravagant lifestyles. Like I don’t spend $100’s on clothes or make up and he doesn’t spend much either. Also, we aren’t planning on having children at all. Just a dog or two.

Obviously, it depends on where we teach and where we live, but has anyone had experience with this? Like are you and your SO both teachers and doing pretty decent?

I’m obviously not going to break up with him over that since it would be dumb, but I have started to worry about it a little because I know teachers don’t make much (at least not where I live now) and I’d like to know if we could live comfortably.

**Also, we’re both graduating with our Master’s in Education, so that should help, right???

I’d love to hear all (if any) positives about both being teachers instead of just the potential negatives!! Thanks!
