New job 22-26 weeks??

Question

I finish school in a couple days and within the next few weeks will start working in a dr office. I’m already gonna he pretty far along but my belly is easy to hide in my scrubs still. Is this even a good idea? Anyone gotten a new job just to take maternity leave in a few months? I’m stressing out

I would make sure first of all that they will allow you to take maternity leave and you get paid for it as with most companies you have to be there a year....also if you haven’t told them about your pregnancy then they can refuse to employ you x

I think it’s a dishonest way to begin a new job. They cannot legally fire you or refuse employment, but there is often a grace period before you’re eligible for benefits (insurance, maternity). If they find out before you’re eligible, they may decide they want somebody else for the role. Then you’d have to prove discrimination in the workplace in court, which can be a hefty legal battle against a doctor with insurance and much deeper pockets than yours. I wouldn’t.

I started my job in August and going on maternity leave in January, I told my boss I was pregnant before i started my role & she was all good with it. I feel like it would have been another story if I wasn’t upfront about my pregnancy so I’m definitely happy I was honest to begin with 🙂

Hi there! I was highered at 20 weeks. I am going to be 24 weeks and they still cannot tell. It hides well, my insurance does not kick in until December 1 so my goal is to stay hidden until Dec 1. By law you do not have to tell them until 30 days before maternity leave. Mine wont be paid but I will be saving up money as I am getting paid before FEB. 
It is important to build a relationship with the people that you are working with before you tell them about the pregnancy. People will naturally treat you differently. 
My job loves me and I love it! My goal is to blow them out of the water so they would not believe I was pregnant. At this rate I will be fine in regards to job security but I think it is important to build a relationship first then talk about maternity leave afterwards!

Me! Ill be taking a six week unpaid leave :( and i was told they couldn't guarantee my job security if i had to be out long

One other thing. Check and see what kind of state you live in. I live in an at will state which means they can terminate employment you for a reason or for no reason at all. Which might help you decide when the appropriate time would be to tell them.
My father is an attorney and gave me a suggestion so I took his advice.

Definitely check and see what their policy is with maternity leave/short-term/FMLA.
I transferred to a new job within my same company, worked there for less than a week, and then had my first baby. Took my maternity leave and came back after. They knew how far along I was when I was hired and they were willing to hire me due to the fact that I would be coming back after.

I got a job teaching while pregnant. I was nervous but immediately told them and it wasn't a big deal. I can see some companies being put out but I think MOST employers are understanding that it's just a part of life that happens for alot of us. I was able to take my 12 weeks of FMLA leave, no issues.
