Standing in Crib

How long do you leave your toddler in their crib if they won’t sleep? My baby is going through a phase where she’s tired so I’ll put her down in her crib but she’ll sit there and stand for awhile. Sometimes she doesn’t cry and sometimes she does (right now she’s not). She’ll eventually go to sleep but it won’t be for like an hour and I feel bad leaving her in there but if I take her out, she misses her nap and gets overtired and then gets even more cranky when I try and put her back down.
