Are these contractions?

I started to lose chunks of my mucous plug yesterday, today I have a constant dull lower back ache, waves of increased pelvic pressure that are accompanied by abdominal tightening.

If they are occurring in waves, that might sound like labor. Time to start timing the time in between!

My midwife says I'll know when the real contractions hit because they will be painful enough that I have to stop what I'm doing. Until that point, it's just false labor.
