Does your baby use a pacifier?

Question

I ask because my son isn’t a fan (of course that means he uses me as a pacifier when he needs it at night) but I wonder if there are any added benefits to using a pacifier that you all could share (I’ve done my research online but I like to hear firsthand stories). Thanks!

She will only use one when she is sleepy and it def helps her fall asleep. Otherwise during the day even if she’s fussing she won’t take it

It’s suppose to help reduce sids. I use it because I hate being a human pacifier. And I’ve noticed some times she wants to suck, but isn’t hungry so she gets angrier if I try to nurse her. She really only uses it to fall asleep

Our son sucks his thumbs / fingers sometimes but we didn't want to give him a pacifier and I'm glad we didn't. I've seen so many parents use it as a mute button for their baby and if really upsets me. My cousin's daughter is 2.5 and still has one and had to be told to take it out multiple times because I couldn't understand what she was saying. I know the habit isn't that hard to break for everyone but I didn't want to risk it. I also don't mind nursing for comfort or extra cuddles.

My daughter won't take a one but I read something the other day that made me feel so much better... Your baby doesn't 'use you as a pacifier'...you aren't a piece of plastic, you're worth more, it's so much more than that, you are there safe place something they'd never get from a pacifier ❤️

I started to give my baby the pacifier because I read it reduced SIDS.

I tried but he isn’t very interested. But it was a life saver when he had a chest infection

Only when he’s overtired and can’t get himself to sleep. Other than that his thumb is his favorite.  Benefit would be reduced risk of sids.

It helps reduce the risk of SIDS. They have a few theories why, but are not %100 sure. Since I EBF, I opted out on the pacifier. It can help your baby fall asleep and stay asleep. My baby uses her hand to soothe herself

He only takes it before bed. I wasn’t able to breastfeed for medical reasons so I really think it’s just a replacement for a nipple. Babies find comfort in sucking
