Waking baby to eat ?

I see some moms letting their newborns sleep through the night if baby won't wake up to feed, but I've been told you HAVE to feed baby every 3-4 hours . What do you think ?

When i had my son i woke up every 3 hours for the first 2 weeks but his doctor said as long as he was gaining weight I could let him sleep til he woke up

If your baby is gaining weight as it should, then you don't wake the baby.

I didn’t wake up my son, he was sleeping all night at 2 months. As a newborn, I followed his routine. Then he slept through the night and I just continued to follow what he did/needed.

The reason you have to wake them is some babies may not wake. If they don’t, their blood sugar can get dangerously low. Some newborns wake up but my son did not and I had to wake him. My doctor explained all this to me.

It depends on how old your little one is. If you’re breastfeeding (especially in the first month) it is SUPER important to wake baby to nurse at least every 3 hours. I made the terrible mistake of not doing so and let my baby sleep. When he came home from the hospital, I fell asleep and realized he slept a while 6 hours at night and thought it was great... no. That basically started telling my body that I didn’t need to produce as much milk and I struggled with breastfeeding tremendously. I never produced more that 5 ounces a day and my baby was losing weight and not getting enough milk. I tried literally everything to get my supply back up but it was too late and NOTHING worked. I will DEFF not be making that same mistake this time (I’m 31 weeks pregnant) 
So in the first month, if breastfeeding I would absolutely breastfeed at least every 2-3 hours. Personally, I wouldn’t go past 3 hours feeding a newborn up to 3 months old, but some will say that it’s fine. I would talk to your pediatrician before making a decision. Good luck hun!

As soon as baby gains their birth weight back, they will wake up when they’re hungry. Enjoy the peace and quiet, they’ll let you know when it’s time

My doctor told me to wake her up and feed her every 2 hours for the first month so she wouldn't get jaundice. I have no clue if it's true or not but i can say that she didn't so maybe he was right.😁

We fed on demand so if they woke every two hours we nursed every two if they slept for 4 hours so did I lol

If you’d baby is gaining weight properly, please let him or her sleep. 😭😭 Babies grow & their brain develops when they sleep.

Also if they have jaundice! My DD has jaundice and I had to wake her even in the hospital. Jaundice made her sooo sleepy. It wasn’t until she was almost 3 weeks that she started waking on her own.
