What’s best and safest for my sons Halloween costume??

Our son is going to be 4 months old on the 9th next month and for Halloween he is going to be a lumberjack, I wanted to get a knitted beard but I ran out of time and so I was wondering if washable markers or eye show would be okay. I’m worried because he is in the process of teething so he is excessively drooling and everything going into his mouth plus he likes to rub his eyes. Should I just forget about a beard this year because that is what I’m more leaning towards but thought it wouldn’t hurt to ask for opinions.
