One of my good friends is married and they have a girlfriend. Tbh, I have seen all of them together multiple times and it seems to be very functional for all of them and they seem happy. I personally cant wrap my brain around it, but I do find it fascinating. Not for me, but its interesting to listen to them and engage with them. Theyre open and communication is always honest between them.
