1/4 black considered mix?

My husband and I are having a debate here. He is 1/4 black, 3/4 white, and he considers himself an African Canadian man. Just by looking at him, you couldn’t really tell. He has black features, but very pale skin. He was raised mostly by his black family, so that is what he identifies as. Also legally, he identifies as black. Peopl constantly tell him he isn’t “black enough” to identify as black. I am mixed aswell (we don’t know with what, my father is unknown) so I’m curious to see what people’s opinions are. No hate ! We are all love here ❤️❤️

He’s mixed. If you’re not 100% African-American or 100% Caucasian than you are mixed. Just biology.

He’s mixed. That’s it and that’s all. I’m black and light skinned and people have told me I’m not black enough. I have mixed children. 3/4 look white. Green eyes, blue eyes, brown eyes. Brown/blonde hair, red hair and brown hair. Black comes in all different shades.

I wouldn’t consider him just black but he is mixed. You can’t always tell what someone is mixed with based off their looks though so people shouldn’t be making judgments off his appearance.

Mixed doesn’t mean how much or what you look like. I’m 50/50. My mom is Swedish an super white and my dad is South African black and very dark. I came out on the lighter side, my sister is darker than I am. Doesn’t mean I am less African. If you are biracial, you are. Doesn’t matter how much.

My kids are mixed.. they are Irish, Scandinavian, Spaniard, and Native American.. they are identified as Hispanic due to Hispanic last name.  I feel that most multi racial individuals tend to identify with one of their races, more than the others. I don’t know if it is by their choice or if it’s just what’s “pushed” on them from society. Society tends to want to put everything and everyone into a box or specific category. I teach my kids about all aspects of their racial background. 🤷🏼‍♀️ just my opinion please no hate!

I'm the worst at seeing someone's race 🤦 like to me "black" or "white" is a color. And if you aren't that color? Now if you were to say you are from a country ok that's cool I won't argue that. But when we are still trying to divide Americans into groups it doesn't make sense to me. My husband is half Mexican but very light. Tbh I wouldn't have even know his dad was Mexican if I wasn't told. I worked with someone for 5 months and one night she was talking about how a customer was being racist toward her and I thought it was because she was white and then she dropped it that she was Latina and I was 🤯 shook. So yes, technically that is mixed. But there's an attitude of trying to claim oppression and if no one knows you are that race then how can they oppress you? If they think you are white they are either racist towards white people or just being rude because strangers don't automatically know your family tree.

My mom is the opposite (3/4 black, 1/4 white), and to everyone (and herself) she’s just black. Technically, your SO is not all white or all black, but he’s IS still mostly white. But I guess it doesn’t really matter, because either way, being black is a part of his ethnicity/culture. 🤷🏾‍♀️🤷🏾‍♀️

Im part asian and look black so I dont call myself mixed. Technically, that is mixed but usually when people think of mixed they assume half and half.
