Permission? No. I'm a grown woman, I'm not a piece of property. 
We asked my parents for their BLESSING. Wanted to still show we're had respect for their opinion, but would have gotten married regardless of what they said.

My now fiancé did ask for blessings from my parents (who are divorced) and my grandparents. I admire traditional values and the way he incorporated them within the special moment of our lives.

Nope.. I told my husband I am not my dads property... we announced our intentions but never asked for permission.. 🤮

My husband asked my mom and my 2 brothers who are still living. My dad passed away when I was 10, and 2 of my brothers passed away after him.

It’s just an old tradition, that the person walking your wife down the isle (where they ask whoever it is do they hand them over to this person) and it was custom to ask for that persons acceptance first. 
Of all the old traditions I love this but I am quite old school

I was raised by my grandparents, so my husband and I told them we were planning to get married. But it wasn’t asking for permission and I was part of the conversation. 
My dad, who would see me once every couple years growing up, is still upset my husband didn’t ask for permission 😂

My husband & I got engaged & married at 18, but I never had a dad in the picture. He did ask my mom for her blessing before he proposed though.

My husband didnt, but I do know a few people whose significant others have, so definitely still a thing sometimes. I personally would have found it a bit strange if he had asked my father because I wasnt living at home (and hadnt for 7 years prior) and we already owned a home together...so I certainly wasnt my parents' responsability anymore.
