Meet my baby boy!

Kristina

It began last night around 7:30 pm 11-6-19, when I began having what I assumed was my bloody show. It was a red/pink color and began to thicken up throughout the night. As soon as I seen it I called labor and delivery to find out if I should go in, but because I was being induced in the morning they told me to keep an eye on it and if anything changes to come in.

So just before midnight that night, I began having contractions. I didn't think much about them since every evening I have had contractions that never amounted to anything. These ended up being uncomfortable and happening within 3 to 6 minutes of each other.

When 2 am rolled around I finally decided to wake up my boyfriend and have him get ready because I wasn't sure when they were going to pick up. We left the house around 2:30 am and got to the hospital around 3 am. They checked me after I got in my room and I was at 3 to 4 cm dilated and around 90% effaced. Monday when I had my appointment I was around 3 cm and 70%.

I laid there for a couple hours and by 5:40 am I was 5 to 6 cm dilated without any help. I was planning on going through the whole delivery without any pain relief, but after an hour and no progress with dilation, I got the epidural. Best decision I made for myself because I went from excruciating pain and contractions to not being able to feel them at all.

After getting the epidural they hooked me up to pitocin to help make progress since I had stopping dilating any further. After a scare that baby boy may not be getting oxygen and around 5 hours of labor, I was finally around 8 to 9 cm at noon. After another almost 2 hours I had the sudden urge to poop. I mean it felt like straight up constipation poop pains.

I began pushing somewhere between 1:30 and 2:00 pm. Even after an epidural and a basically painless labor I began to have pressure pains. They were so bad for me that I began yelling that I couldn't do it anymore as my baby boys head came pushing through. He was so far through though that I couldn't stop no matter how much I wanted to.

After just over 14.5 hours of active labor, I gave birth to Braxton Gene Hannahs my 8lb 8oz baby boy.
