My baby sister just found she is pregnant at 20 weeks along and her unborn baby has Gastroschisis. Doctors said it is due to drug use in her pregnancy. I’m really worried about her and her baby. I don’t believe she is using anymore, but she can hardly take care of herself much less a baby who will need extensive medical care after birth. She has no income or a stable place to live. She also lives across the country so her family support system is very far away. Her boyfriend wants to keep the baby and raise it there together, but I don’t believe he is a stable person and also uses drugs. I really want her to move back home so she has the support she needs from her family. How do I convince her to come back home? How much medical care will this baby really need? Will the baby have a heart condition? Will baby be born prematurely? I have so many questions and concerns. I don’t know where to start. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
