UPDaTe 11/24- Emergency c-section 28wk twin girls!! Please pray for us

Heather • 28wk 🌈TWIN 🎀🎀!! Born 11.04.19, 10 years ttc, 👼🏻👼🏻, #ivfjourney, happily married

I was due Jan 25, 2020 with twin girls. I developed a condition called vasa previa and have been on modified bed rest the last 5 weeks. After a very scary Monday evening, 5:15pm 11/04, with a lot of sudden bleeding and a call to 911 I was having an emergency csection and both girls were out at 6:36 & 6:37pm on 11/04.

Baby A was 4lbs but very puffy and her placenta had started bleeding. Baby B was 2lb 12oz and apparently her placenta was really tiny. Got to see Baby A after a few hours but didn’t see B for at least 6 hours.

Both girls are stable and doing well for 28wks 2 days until tonight. Baby A suddenly developed a fever and high heart rate. Dr was on top of it and were doing tests, starting antibiotics, etc. 2 major concerns have been ruled out. We get results on the other 2 concerns tomorrow morning. 😬

Baby A is resting tonight and they got the fever down and heart rate stable and within a good range.

Please pray for us (mom & Dad) and both our girls!! Never been so scared in my life

UPDATE 11/12:

Baby A, Yvette (e-vet), is doing much better! Her fever went away and all the tests they ran came back negative (meningitis, sepsis, urinalysis, and one I can’t remember). We are so grateful everything is negative! The only mystery now is what caused such a quick high spike in her temperature, we may never know but they’re watching her closely to make sure there is no relapse.

Both girls had their 1 week brain scans and Baby B, Elora (e-lora), has no bleeding or issues! Yvette did have some grade 2 (out of 4) bleeding on the left side only but it was a small amount. Dr is not worried since it’s small amount on one side and will retest both at 2 weeks old to confirm it’s cleared up. Apparently this is common in premies born before 30 wks and it usually goes away on its own when it’s minor like hers. Dr said she would be more worried about a urinary infection. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Baby B, Elora (e-lora), continues to be stable with no additional issues. She is much smaller than her sister but she’s growing.

Both girls gained 100g yesterday and Elora is back up to her birth weight of 2lb 12oz and Yvette is up to 3lb 11oz, her birth weight was 4lb.

THANK YOU all for the prayers, support and well wishes! We appreciate it soo much!

UPDATE 11/24:

We’ve had a few scares with a fever and major heart valve concern for Elora but we’ve made it through! Both girls are stable and doing well.

Yvette hasn’t had any major issues since the fever and the brain bleed, both are gone now, her personality is starting to show. She’s feisty! Her pda (heart valve) still needs to finish closing but it’s not putting pressure on her heart and lungs.

Elora was struggling with her pda, it was large and putting pressure on her heart and lungs. We just did a round of medicine and we’re so grateful it worked and made her pda small so it’s not stressing her heart now!

It’s great to have a good day in the NICU! Still have a ways to go but slowly moving forward. They’re 31wks (gestational age) and 3 wks Monday.
