How much to feed solid foods at 4 months?

Question

I was given the ok by his pediatrician to start solid foods for my 4 month old. But I'm not sure how much I should feed him starting out? Does anyone know or have a chart for reference? 
His daycare also has a food program when he starts solids but he's still be introduced so I'm wondering if once a day until he's introduced would be good ?

Hey instead of stating your opinion on how its to early, why don't you offer advice? His doctor as I stated in his post gave me the go ahead. So unless you are a doctor yourself that has personally examined my baby, take your opinion elsewhere 😊 I just want advice on the best way to go about this.

I would still wait until 6 months. There's no rush and personally the risk is greater than the reward when starting solids early.

Start with literally like a teaspoon. Then wait a few days before offering more of it and especially before offering a new food. Unless there’s a health reason there’s no need to rush into offering solids.

Once a day is more than enough. I stated my daughter at 4 months (bring on hater know it all mums) mainly because she had severe colic and reflux and solids helped ease this (HV/doc recommended).
We started with just baby porridge in the morning ( a few mouthfuls before her bottle)
Then we began to introduce a few fruit/veggie purées (again before a bottle was due) over time and as she got older we increased the amounts and began to add new textures and things for her to hold and eat (she always loved really soft carrot) 
You will know what your baby is ready for and when. It can be a bit trial and error but good luck 😊

You don’t really need to give solids until 6 months. Does baby sit well unsupported? Does baby no longer have the tongue thrust reflex?￼ Those are two very important signs of readiness and usually those physical signs of readiness aren’t more apparent until around 6 months of age.

I’ve been doing research on introducing solids in preparation and I’ve seen that they may only eat a couple tablespoons a day at first and to do it maybe an hour or so after their milk meal.

I would get a new doctor.  2nd opinion or a third of they vary, which they will.  I’m fortunate to have a pediatrician as a BFF and she also says it’s too early.  All they need is milk. Not even water at that age.

I started with once a day when my daughter was 4 months. My doctor said she no longer has the tongue thrust reflex and said she is a good eater. My daughter was very interested in eating solid food but not all babies are. I followed my baby’s cues as to how much to give her. Don’t force them to eat the food and just do small amounts pro start with. 
It’s so exciting to feed them their first foods! Take lots of pictures and cherish the messy moments 😁.

We started at 4 months too. We would offer a spoonful and see if she’d take a few bites. Gerber sells “my first fruits and veggies” and it’s literally just tastes of foods for baby. At this time I wouldn’t heat it up or add sugar or anything. And remember to wait a few days between new foods to make sure baby doesnt have an allergy. Best of luck!
