I just need to vent about something that doesn't make sense to me about the in-laws.

First of all I call them the in-laws, but we aren't married. We live together have pets and future plans, but not married. We are trying to save for a house and kids (I'm 29 🕛). My in-laws love me and we go over there often to hang out. They own 2 houses, the one they live in and one next door that they rent out. The rental has been empty for almost 2 years and we have asked to rent there. The problem is they want like $1500 for this house that needs so much work and doesn't even have A/C. We live in Central CA where summers are over 100 every day! My man works for a property management company and remodels and fixes things FOR HIS JOB. So we have offered to live there for less rent, but we will fix the house up like update fixtures, paint and get a A/C unit. I honestly don't even think they would if we could pay the whole amount anyway. But my man eventually gets the house anyway WHICH THEY SAY EVERYTIME WE TALK ABOUT THE HOUSE so its like wtf.

So my man's mom constantly complains that the house is empty and his dad doesn't seem to care, but they won't let us rent it. It makes me so sad! We currently live in a duplex mobile home with no yard for $650. We have two 50lb+ dogs and a cat. I get it's their house and can charge what they will, but it's been empty for so long! It's just frustrating because they constantly ask when we will get a house and have babies and we just tell them we don't have the funds or the room. Just one of those things where I know there is more to the story, but they won't talk to us. ☹️😣

I know that such a first world problem, but if it was my parents we would be in there as soon as it was empty for whatever we could afford. Am I crazy?It's weird right? My man gets really upset about it because he feels like his parents have never helped him out when he needed it ☹️ I know we what we sound like, but it's how we feel. We are basically stuck in this tiny 1 bedroom until we can afford the down payment to a house. It'd be nice to be stuck somewhere with a yard until then 😂
