High blood pressure
I was diagnosed with high BP when I was like 23/24 (genetic) and I’ve been medicated ever since. The medicine controls my BP very well and I’ve never had any issues.
With my last pregnancy my doctor monitored me but I was never considered high risk or anything. They never did extra ultrasounds or worried about preeclampsia. Towards the end of my pregnancy my BP did get high and I was having swelling but nothing serious and my doctor just upped my meds. My urine always came back clean and never had protein. I went on to have a healthy baby at 39 weeks.
This pregnancy I’m at a new doctors office and they want to monitor me closely, and are taking tons of precautions for preeclampsia. Every time I’ve been to the doctor my BP is normal (120/80) and they had me do a 24hr urine collection which came back clean (no traces of protein at all). They have me taking a low dose baby aspirin to help prevent preeclampsia and they want me to have the baby at 38 weeks (I’ve had 2 csections so this will be my 3rd). I was looking at my online chart and reading the notes that my doctor made from my 12 week ultrasound. It states that I’m high risk and she recommends I have growth scans starting at 28 weeks and then 2 weekly tests starting at 32 weeks. She never mentioned any of this to me at my appointment.
I understand they are just being cautious and I’m grateful for that. But I don’t understand why they are doing that for this pregnancy but that was never done for my last pregnancy. I never had preeclampsia and my BP is normal at this point. I do plan on asking my doctor at my next appointment which is in 2 weeks. Also my last pregnancy was 2yrs ago so it’s not like it was a long time ago.
