Best friends ex boyfriend

So I’ve hung out with this guy and I like talking to him and I like him. However my best friend broke up with him (6 month relationship) because she said she just wasn’t feeling it. Well I talked to her and she said that he is just manipulating me and that he seems nice now but he won’t be as the relationship goes on. We have made out and he’s fingered me before. My friend told me that he won’t take no for an answer. However when I told him he was being too rough while fingering me, he stopped and we moved on to something else. My friends said that he might be different with me but she doubts it. I also think I should mention that she is not really a best friend. We hang out and stuff but she doesn’t include me in certain things.

I don’t know what to do. I really like him but people besides my friend have mentioned that he has problems with relationships.
