Ladies, these are my feet. I have gestational diabetes, I’m 38 weeks tomorrow and the doctors are not too concerned of the swelling? They started about 3 weeks ago? As far as I heard swelling usually indicates preeclampsia??? No?

It’s definitely one symptom but they will watch your blood pressure and if that’s high and you have swelling and protein in your urine that’s when they get concerned. Keep your feet up and relax

Just for the record you can have preeclampsia and NOT have any protein in your urine. It happened to be with my last baby.
I have chronic hypertension, I was diagnosed when I was like 23/24 (it’s genetic and I’m 30 now), and I’ve been medicated ever since. My medicine did it’s job up until I was like 30 weeks, I started having swelling in my hands, feet and legs and my blood pressure started rising. My doctor upped my meds and always checked my urine. I never ever had any protein in my urine, yet my meds weren’t working and my pressure continued to rise. My doctor continued to up my meds which didn’t work and I continued to have no protein in my urine. I begged my doctor to take him early but she said he would be fine. He was born at 39 weeks via planned csection. He was perfect, thank God!
I’m pregnant with #3 now and I’m with a completely new doctors office. When I told them what my last doctor did, they were appalled. They told me I had clear signs of preeclampsia and that you don’t have to have protein in your urine to be diagnosed with it. I’m now considered high risk, and I’m closely monitored. I’m only 13 weeks 3 days but starting at 28 weeks I’ll get weekly growth scans to check on baby, and starting at 32 weeks I’ll have to get NSTs twice weekly.
I am so grateful to have a doctor that actually cares about me and my baby’s health!

If your bp is fine and no protein in your urine, all they will do is advise you to keep your legs elevated as high as you can. This helps reduce swelling immensely. When you're pregnant, your body tends to hold more fluids. These fluids have to go somewhere and usually end up in the feet and hands.

My feet and legs are starting to swell. Especially my right one since I always put the most weight on it. I’m 35 weeks now.

It’s also a normal symptom of late pregnancy. I had swelling maybe not as bad as yours but bad enough I couldn’t wear shoes the last month or two of pregnancy only one pair of huge flip flops. Walked out of the hospital 25 lbs lighter just from swelling going down after delivery.

It’s a symptom but if your BP is okay and urine is okay then that could explain why they’re not worried x
