Did anyone not get induced after 41 weeks?

I have an induction date set for Friday at exactly 41 weeks. I think I want to cancel it if that’s an option to me. I’m 3cm dilated, I have small babies but they’re expecting this one to be my biggest, in the higher 6lbs. This will be my last pregnancy & im getting really sad/discouraged he hasn’t come on his own. But he has to eventually right? Did anyone else turn down induction at 41 weeks, go into labor naturally? I feel so much pressure from my SO to take induction but I just truly want to go into labor naturally when he’s ready.. 😫

I’m currently 41+3 and haven’t even talked induction with my midwife. As long as everything is good - your NST was fine and your fluid level is okay - I don’t see why they would make you be induced. Say no if you want to! There’s no better time to self-advocate!

I’m not overdue yet but my midwife will induce me at 42 weeks I asked her if they would possibly let me go passed that if the NST keep coming back good and she told me they really prefer not to for baby’s sake.

Most of the time it’s totally safe to wait it out. The due date is just an estimation so there’s no way they can know exactly when you got pregnant and you may just need an extra week or two to cook! Plus labor brought on by medical induction is usually much more painful and intense as the contractions are super hard and fast from the beginning instead of being able to slowly build in intensity as the body naturally does it. I’m 40 weeks today and I know my midwife doesn’t do induction intervention in a healthy pregnancy till after 42 weeks and she’s never had a mother or baby be in danger or have issues because of it. (And she’s done 830 births so that’s a pretty good track record.) While I believe there is certainly a time and a place and a necessity for some inductions, I also think that Doctor’s are becoming more and more “induction happy” and just doing it right and left. As long as your pregnancy is going well, you don’t have reduced amniotic fluid, and you don’t have high blood pressure, I believe it’s a totally safe call to wait it out. ♥️ best of luck to you!

They can’t force you. If everything with the baby is looking good then cancel if that’s what your intuition is telling you. Out to 42 is totally healthy. Induction can lead to a much less pleasant labor as others have said and babies come when they are ready. I’m negotiating too because I’m 40 and doctors don’t like you to go past your due date these days even thought the increased risk of adverse outcomes is soooo small. I’m only 38+6 and at a midwife practice so it should be pretty easy to get them let me go to 41 weeks as long as the monitoring is going well. Good luck!

The doctors won't let me go past 41 and a half weeks. I'm only 39+5 now, but yeah only 3-4 days over

Risk of stillbirth doubles after 41 weeks which is why OBs usually want to induce at that point but that percentage is still very, very low.  Talk to your doctor about it if you want to wait and he/she can advise if that’s wise for you personally.
