my boyfriend never buys me stuff

i love my boyfriend, but he never buys me anything. it isn’t because he has no money, he bought himself a motorcycle on a whim. he got me chocolates and two tiny potted plants on valentines day last year, and thats the only time he’s ever got me a gift. he’ll pay for dinner or drinks when we go out so he’s generous and not broke. i even asked him to but me flowers and he still hasn’t. i don’t know what else to do. if i just ASK for stuff it doesn’t feel like a present or a surprise it just feels rude.
