I loved it. For me it was painless, and didnt feel a thing after getting it. No contractions and no pain, hardly any pressure while pushing. Normally they want you to be able to feel a little bit so you know you're  doing it right but for me didnt feel anything and pushed for 20ish minutes.

I wasn’t sure about a needle in my back before labor, but the pain got too bad after 22 hours in labor. I’ll probably get one again.

I wanted to try without but was open to taking it if I needed it. I ended up getting one because the pain was more than I could bear. IMO everyone should be open to it, just in case. If you can go without, great! But don't refuse help with pain if you need it. It's just not smart.

Since I had back labor, it was a god send. No side effects whatsoever for me.

I wanted so badly to have a non-medicated birth, but my labor stalled on and off for three days. My midwife asked me if I wanted to induce, so, me being in the horrible, exhausted state I was in, I said yes! I went to L&D that night and they gave me an Ambien to sleep because I hadn’t slept in 3 days. The next day they have me Pitocin (a special kind of hell that I will never, ever get again) and begged for an epidural. Note: I am terrified of needles, but because it was in my back and I couldn’t see it, it wasn’t so bad. You can feel everything from the needle being inserted, to the medicine going down your spine, but it was not even close to being anywhere near as bad as how Pitocin made me feel lol the epidural worked pretty quickly and I was on cloud nine, not feeling a single contraction. Then it stopped working on the left side of my body 😬 go figure. I think it’s good when it works, but just be aware that it doesn’t always work haha
