FTM Positive Induction Birth Story
On Thursday November 14th my husband and I went in to be induced at 5:30pm. Once we got to the hospital they put us in a room. I got changed and they came in and check my cervix. I was 1.5cm 50% effaced. My doctor decided use cervadil to ripen my cervix and start some contractions. They said to leave it in for 12 hours.
Well, after two hours with the cervadil my contractions picked up causing babies heart rate to drop. They decided to removed the cervadil and check my dilation and I was at a 3cm. We let my body labor a bit on it's own until about 1am then I got an epidural and started pitocin. Once pitocin got started I'm so thankful I had the epidural because my body started contracting hard and at 1min apart.
At 5am I was dilated to a 6cm and babies heart start to drop again so they took me off pitocin and again let my body labor on it's own.
At 9am I felt a lot of pressure and was at a 9.5cm. At 10:30am I was a 10cm and we let my contractions go a bit longer so baby would he positioned better.
I started pushing at noon. Pushing was the most exhausting part of all of this. I pushed so hard that I got dizzy causing me to need oxygen. I pushed 45mins and my sweet baby boy was born.
