How to stop co sleeping?

My baby boy is 9 months old. He was sleeping 7-7 in his own room in his own cot. Then he got a really bad cold (which he’s had for over a week) and he’s only just at the end of it.

He started being more clingy and now he wakes up at about 1 and won’t settle until he’s in my bed. I don’t want to carry on co sleeping and I’m so tired. How do I stop? I tried just reassuring him but not giving in, but he just screams if I do that. On top of this, my husband is away for 2 weeks so I have nobody to help.
