How early can you detect autism?

My son is 20 months old. He has been showing signs of autism for awhile now. I sensed it at 3. Because he’s been through some major trauma with domestic violence and foster care. He is still too young to be diagnosed is what I’m told. The hope is for him to grow out of it once all DCF involvement is gone. What do you guys think, is he too young to be diagnosed with autism?

My daughter was diagnosed with autism at 19 months. They can absolutely detect autism this early. They couldn't do it before but they can now. The most valuable piece of advice I can give you is to test your son NOW.
 
Many parents think that their kids will outgrow autism. They will not. If you suspect it then absolutely go and get him tested for it. The most helpful thing you can do for an autistic kid is to intervene as early as possible. The earlier you get him diagnosed (if he is) the earlier he will receive help and the better he will do later in life. 
It's heartbreaking and hard, but don't feel alone. There's help out there.

My sister was diagnosed around 19 months. She got specific care and treatment and now at 9 years old you would HARDLY know she is autistic. She made significant improvements with the treatment she received

Its possible but depending in severity it might not be diagnosed properly until hes older
